New to bunch rides? We understand that cycling group rides can be intimidating, especially for new cyclists. We’ve all been there!
But don’t stress – at Knights Of Suburbia we’re a welcoming Community of everyday cyclists, weekday commuters and weekend warriors. Our social rides are all about having fun, getting fit, making new friends and enjoying the freedom of cycling.
Sound like your kind of people? Great! But before you hit the road, here’s some answers to frequently asked questions.
Also known as a group ride or a social ride, a bunch ride is a group of cyclists riding together in a social setting. It could be as little as 2 or more than 20 cyclists depending on how popular the ride is — or what the weather is like!
No, our bunch rides are open to all riders, regardless of experience level. However, you should be confident cycling on the road for a couple of hours and have a moderate level of fitness.
You’ll need a road bike in good working order.
Bring water, snacks, appropriate clothing for the weather conditions, lights if the ride starts or finishes in the dark, and a basic toolkit with a spare tube in case of a flat tire or have a mechanical issue.
The speed of the ride will vary depending on the group and the route, but we always ride at a ‘social pace’. As a guide, you should be able to have a chat with the person beside you while you ride for most of the ride. We have a ‘no drop’ policy, meaning no rider is left behind, and depending on the ride there may be stops to regroup.
Again, this depends on the group and the route, but generally our rides range between 1.5 to 3hrs.
Make sure you carry a basic toolkit and spare tube with you. If you’re having issues there is generally someone in the bunch who can be of assistance.
Of course! Our rides are open to anyone. The more the merrier!
Absolutely! Sometimes it’s the only thing that gets us out of bed!
That’s cool. You do you!
No, come as you are! But if you love the KOS kit you can snag yourself some here.
We’re not a club and there is no membership. All are welcome!
Check out our website or events pages for information about our weekly rides all around Australia. Just show up on the day and Roll Deep with KOS!
Wait! I’ve got more questions…
